Questions
What counts as a no heat call in Toronto?
Where the landlord supplies the heat, Toronto requires at least 21 degrees Celsius, measured 1.5 metres above the floor, in all areas of the unit from October 1 to May 15, under Chapter 497, Indoor Temperature Standards, section 497-2.1 A (By-law 1511-2025, in force June 1, 2026). A unit below that in that period is a heat emergency.
Who works on gas furnaces and boilers?
TSSA registered contractors, for every gas furnace, boiler and gas appliance. Registration details are sent to clients on request.
Who handles refrigerant on an A/C or heat pump?
Technicians with a 313A or 313D Certificate of Qualification, since air conditioning is a compulsory trade in Ontario, who also hold the ozone depletion prevention (ODP) card that Ontario requires to buy and handle refrigerants.
Who services a fan coil in a condo rental?
It depends on the building. Some corporations service every suite on a schedule, others leave the suite's unit to the owner. We check before booking. See condo fan coils.
Can you service a whole portfolio before the season?
Yes. Heating is serviced before October and cooling before June, building by building, so one round of notices covers each address. See heating season.
