# Heating and cooling repairs, from furnace to fan coil

No heat in January, no cooling in July, a rattling condo fan coil. The licensed HVAC technicians we book fix it, and every unit keeps its own service history.

Intake checks the thermostat, the filter and the breaker with the resident before anyone drives. When a visit is needed, the licensed technicians we book do the repair and the unit's history grows by one entry.

## The heating and cooling calls you send us

- **Furnaces and boilers.** No heat calls, repairs and annual service, with gas work by TSSA registered contractors.
- **Air conditioning and heat pumps.** Central, ductless and heat pump units, installed and repaired by technicians with a 313A or 313D certificate and the ODP card.
- **Condo fan coils and PTACs.** Filters, coils, drain pans, motors and valves, booked under the building's rules.
- **Thermostats, ducts and filters.** Thermostat swaps, vents, duct repairs and filter changes, occupied or vacant.

## Fixed on the phone when it can be

1. **Remote check.** Intake walks the resident through the thermostat, the filter and the furnace switch.
2. **Booked by urgency.** No heat in season and a failed A/C in a heat wave go ahead of routine work.
3. **Quote from site.** A replacement above your approval limit comes back as an instant quote when the visit ends.
4. **Logged to the unit.** Every visit, filter and part lands on that unit's service history.

> This website is not an emergency line. No heat or a failed cooling system goes to our intake by phone or text, answered 24/7.

## What the report shows on an HVAC job

- **The rating plate.** Model, serial and age of the furnace, boiler or condenser, on file for the owner.
- **The thermostat, on arrival and on leaving.** Two timed readings that show the unit is heating or cooling again.
- **The filter, before and after.** The dirty one out and the new one in, dated.
- **The part replaced.** The failed igniter, motor or board, beside its replacement.

## Questions

### What counts as a no heat call in Toronto?

Where the landlord supplies the heat, Toronto requires at least 21 degrees Celsius, measured 1.5 metres above the floor, in all areas of the unit from October 1 to May 15, under Chapter 497, Indoor Temperature Standards, section 497-2.1 A (By-law 1511-2025, in force June 1, 2026). A unit below that in that period is a heat emergency.

### Who works on gas furnaces and boilers?

TSSA registered contractors, for every gas furnace, boiler and gas appliance. Registration details are sent to clients on request.

### Who handles refrigerant on an A/C or heat pump?

Technicians with a 313A or 313D Certificate of Qualification, since air conditioning is a compulsory trade in Ontario, who also hold the ozone depletion prevention (ODP) card that Ontario requires to buy and handle refrigerants.

### Who services a fan coil in a condo rental?

It depends on the building. Some corporations service every suite on a schedule, others leave the suite's unit to the owner. We check before booking. See [condo fan coils](https://roundhousegroup.ca/services/hvac/condo-fan-coils/).

### Can you service a whole portfolio before the season?

Yes. Heating is serviced before October and cooling before June, building by building, so one round of notices covers each address. See [heating season](https://roundhousegroup.ca/services/hvac/heating-season/).
